The Africa-China Diaspora Alliance (AFRICDA) has officially launched, marking a significant milestone in strengthening Africa-China relations. The grand inaugural ceremony, held on November 30, 2024, brought together a diverse group of dignitaries, including ambassadors, business leaders, and community representatives.
AFRICDA’s mission is to foster grassroots engagement and broaden the scope of Africa-China cooperation beyond traditional government-to-government frameworks. The organization aims to create inclusive opportunities for all stakeholders, from diplomats to business leaders, professionals, students, and residents.
China has been sub-Saharan Africa’s largest bilateral trading partner for over two decades, with trade volumes reaching a record $282 billion in 2023. AFRICDA seeks to leverage this strong economic foundation by emphasizing people-to-people connections and fostering a shared vision of sustainable development.
The organization’s initiatives for the coming year include cultural festivals, investment awards, trade fairs, and student sports competitions. These events aim to deepen engagement and foster mutual prosperity between Africa and China.
AFRICDA’s launch is a significant step forward in Africa-China relations, offering a platform for inclusive engagement and cooperation. As the organization continues to promote cultural, economic, and social collaboration, it is poised to elevate Africa-China relations to new heights.
