This workshop brings together senior officials from ECOWAS member states, national electricity regulators, and regional organizations to assess the region’s readiness for the African Single Electricity Market (AfSEM). The meeting aims to evaluate the regulatory frameworks and institutional capacities of West African regional and national institutions for continental electricity trading.
Participants include representatives from the West African Power Pool (WAPP), ECOWAS Regional Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERERA), ECOWAS Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), African Forum for Utility Regulators (AFUR), Association of Power Utilities of Africa (APUA), and African School of Regulation (ASR).
