Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has revealed the tactics behind his team’s elimination of Manchester City from this season’s Champions League.
The Spanish giants overcame City in the quarter-finals and are set to face Borussia Dortmund in the final this Saturday.
After drawing 3-3 with Pep Guardiola’s side at the Bernabeu, Real Madrid won on penalties following another draw at the Etihad.
“There is no ‘Ancelotti style’ – I adapt,” Ancelotti explained. “Against Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-final, we played a low block with strong defense. We’ve only used that approach once or twice this season.
“We typically play more attacking football, but I saw this as the best way to compete and win that game.”
