Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, held talks with Nigerian Foreign Minister, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, on December 3, 2025, reaffirming the robust China-Nigeria comprehensive strategic partnership.
Amb. Yu highlighted the joint efforts driving the partnership forward, citing China’s commitment to high-standard opening-up and development opportunities. He expressed China’s support for Nigeria’s counter-terrorism efforts and readiness to implement zero-tariff treatment for Nigerian exports.
Preparations for the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the 2026 China-Africa Year of Cultural Exchanges were also discussed. These initiatives aim to consolidate strategic trust, deepen cooperation, and benefit both nations.
FM Tuggar emphasized Nigeria’s commitment to the one-China principle and strengthening relations with China, thanking China for its support in Nigeria’s economic and social development. He expressed readiness to expand cooperation in manufacturing, trade, and investment.
The meeting underscores the growing China-Nigeria partnership, with both sides committed to taking bilateral relations to new heights.
