History is about to be made again in the robust bilateral relations between Nigeria and China as Nigeria awaits Chinese Foreign Minister.
The Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Wang Yi, is set to arrive in Abuja, Nigeria, on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, for a two-day official visit. This visit aims to strengthen relations between Nigeria and China, with a focus on bilateral talks and cooperation.
During his visit, Wang Yi will meet with Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar OON, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja on Thursday, January 9, 2025. The meeting, scheduled for 8:30 am at the Conference Room on the eighth floor, will delve into discussions on strengthening ties between the two nations.
Additionally, Wang Yi will pay a courtesy call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, at the Presidential Villa, where he will deliver a special message from the Chinese President.
A press briefing will also be held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja, where Wang Yi and Ambassador Tuggar will address the media and provide insights into the discussions and outcomes of the meeting.
As a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Wang Yi’s visit underscores China’s commitment to deepening its ties with Nigeria and the African continent. This visit is expected to further solidify the bilateral relationship between Nigeria and China, with potential cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, infrastructure development, and more.
Wang Yi’s arrival will be received by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dunoma Umar Ahmed PhD, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
