The 8th Nigerian Diaspora Investment Summit (NDIS) has concluded in Abuja, with stakeholders charting bold pathways to accelerate national development through strategic investments. The summit, themed “Fast-Tracking Regional and National Development by Mobilising Diaspora Investment,” brought together over 1,000 physical participants and several virtual attendees from Nigeria and the diaspora.

Organized by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) in collaboration with the Nigerian Diaspora Summit Initiative (NDSI), the event highlighted the diaspora’s vital role in driving innovation, enterprise, and sustainable growth. Dr. Badewa Adejugbe-Williams, NDIS Coordinator, described the summit as a bridge connecting ideas, people, and opportunities.

Key highlights of the summit included high-level panel discussions, startup pitches, and exhibitions across priority sectors, with a focus on technology and education. Innovators showcased transformative ideas in FinTech, ICT, logistics, and e-learning, with moderators noting the diaspora’s powerful role in driving Nigeria’s digital economy and growth.

The summit emphasized the importance of investing in education and human capital, with Prof. Onyishi Ernest Ike stressing that sustained investment in education is critical to Nigeria’s long-term growth. Diaspora investors engaged directly with startup founders, exploring scalable, impact-driven solutions to support national priorities.

The 3-day event concluded with a shared commitment among participants to deepen partnerships and make the Nigerian Diaspora a true force for innovation, investment, and nation-building.
