In a heartening display of regional cooperation, Nigerian Senate President, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, has lavished praise on ECOWAS Parliament Speaker, Hadja Memounatou Ibrahima, for her transformative leadership.

Akpabio’s commendation comes on the heels of Ibrahima’s visit to the National Assembly, where she led an ECOWAS Parliament delegation to foster greater collaboration between national parliaments and the subregional parliament.

“Speaker Ibrahima’s tireless efforts have reinvigorated the ECOWAS Parliament, bolstering its role in regional integration,” Akpabio noted. “Her parliamentary diplomacy has been instrumental in strengthening ties with national parliaments and addressing the region’s pressing challenges.”

Under Ibrahima’s leadership, the ECOWAS Parliament has witnessed a resurgence in effectiveness, with increased engagement on critical issues such as regional security, economic development, and social cohesion.

“Speaker Ibrahima’s vision for a stronger, more effective ECOWAS Parliament resonates deeply with our collective aspirations for a united and prosperous West Africa,” Akpabio emphasized.

As the first woman to helm the ECOWAS Parliament, Ibrahima’s trailblazing leadership has inspired a new generation of regional leaders. “Her commitment to regional integration and cooperation serves as a beacon of hope for the ECOWAS community,” Akpabio concluded.

With Ibrahima at the forefront, the ECOWAS Parliament is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping West Africa’s future.
