The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has commended the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) for launching the maiden edition of Safe Wheel Nigeria Magazine, describing it as a significant milestone in Nigeria’s quest for safer roads and secure communities.
In a goodwill message delivered on his behalf by the Spokesperson of the Ministry, Mr. Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, at the unveiling ceremony in Abuja on Thursday, the Minister emphasized the importance of road safety in Nigeria’s national security and prosperity.
Amb. Tuggar noted that the security of citizens on highways is a fundamental aspect of human security, and that every life lost to a road traffic crash is a profound loss to a family, community, and the nation’s human capital.
He praised the FRSC for its decades of work in regulation, education, and emergency response, which has saved lives, preserved families, and protected economic assets.
The Minister also highlighted the significance of road safety in intra-African trade, tourism, and regional integration, noting that it is a key pillar of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
He stated that the Safe Wheel Nigeria Magazine will serve as a powerful tool for promoting road safety, showcasing Nigeria’s local innovations, challenges, and successes to an international audience, and fostering dialogue with other nations and global road safety advocates.
The magazine will educate the public on vital safety standards, engage stakeholders, celebrate unsung heroes, and advocate for a cultural shift towards safety, Amb. Tuggar said.
He assured that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is open to collaboration and support to achieve the goals of the magazine, and wished the FRSC well in its endeavours.
The launch of the Safe Wheel Nigeria Magazine is expected to promote road safety awareness, reduce road accidents, and enhance Nigeria’s image globally.
