Nigeria and China have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, with a focus on trade, infrastructure development, and strategic partnership.
The Chargé d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy, Mr. Zhou Hongyou, met with the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, and underscored the depth of Nigeria-China relations.
Both sides discussed reciprocal visits, study tours, and exposure programmes for diplomats to enhance mutual understanding, including training programmes in governance, administration, and public diplomacy.
The Chinese side highlighted plans to commemorate the Chinese New Year and the anniversary of diplomatic relations, with coordinated messaging and media engagement on February 10, 2026.
The meeting reaffirmed Nigeria and China’s shared commitment to deepening diplomatic engagement, enhancing institutional cooperation, and expanding people-to-people exchanges for mutual benefit.
Nigeria is one of China’s most significant partners in Africa, with visible Chinese-supported projects across various sectors of the Nigerian economy.
