The Nigerian Government has commended the Republic of Ghana for rebuilding and handing over a property belonging to the High Commission of Nigeria in Accra, Ghana. This development was announced by Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Acting Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The handing over ceremony, led by Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Her Excellency Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, marks a significant milestone in the efforts to solidify ties between the two nations. Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs was represented by Ambassador Chimezie Ogu, Director of the Foreign Service Academy in Lagos, who received the keys to the newly reconstructed building.
This rebuilt structure replaces the previous building that was demolished by Ghanaian authorities, an action that was strongly condemned by the Nigerian Government. However, through a series of high-level engagements, Ghana promised to rebuild the block of four-bedroom flats, demonstrating its dedication to strengthening relations with Nigeria.
The reconstructed building embodies the spirit of cooperation and mutual respect that defines the relationship between Nigeria and Ghana. This development is expected to further enhance economic and cultural exchanges between the two nations, which have historically shared strong trade ties.
