Nigeria has extended warm congratulations to the Republic of Angola on its 50th Independence Anniversary, hailing the milestone as a testament to the Angolan people’s resilience, unity, and determination. Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, conveyed the message, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to the shared values of independence, progress, and African solidarity.

As a steadfast partner in Angola’s struggle for independence, Nigeria joins in celebrating this historic occasion, strengthening cordial and mutually beneficial relations between the two nations. The countries have cooperated in trade, energy, security, and multilateral engagements, recently solidifying their partnership through multiple agreements signed during the Nigeria/Angola Joint Commission session in Luanda.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also expressed appreciation to the Angolan Government for recognising three distinguished Nigerians – late Head of State, General Murtala Mohammed; former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo; and renowned diplomat, Professor Ibrahim Gambari – for Nigeria’s role in Angola’s liberation struggle and commitment to African solidarity.

” Nigeria reaffirms its readiness to deepen bilateral relations with Angola, explore new areas of partnership, and promote greater people-to-people ties for the mutual benefit of both nations,” said Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The gesture underscores Nigeria’s commitment to Pan-Africanism and regional cooperation, fostering stronger ties within the African Union. As Angola celebrates this milestone, Nigeria wishes the Government and people continued peace, prosperity, and national advancement.
