President Bola Tinubu has launched the NINAUTH App, a digital identity authentication platform developed by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), marking a significant milestone in Nigeria’s digital transformation journey.
The app aims to provide a credible, secure, and verifiable identity management system, fundamental to Nigeria’s national development goals. President Tinubu emphasized that the NINAUTH App will enhance efficiency, transparency, and accountability in governance, while promoting financial inclusion, social welfare delivery, and national security.
Key Features of NINAUTH App:
Unified National Identity Database: Provides access to a unified national identity database, powering social programs, electoral integrity, healthcare access, and equitable distribution of resources.
Real-time Verification: Enables real-time data and information authentication for businesses and government services.
Elimination of Multiple Data Possession: Eliminates multiple data possession by individuals, ensuring accurate and secure identity verification.
President Tinubu directed all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to adopt the NINAUTH App for staff and data verification, citing its potential to simplify access, reduce bureaucratic interference, and eliminate inefficiency and corruption.
Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior, highlighted the importance of a secure national identity, stating that it is the backbone of governance, national security, and service delivery.
NIMC has enrolled 126,717,316 individuals, with 25 million registrations in the last two years, resulting in an average of 1.3 million verification hits per day.
The launch of NINAUTH App marks a significant step towards a digitally empowered Nigeria, aligning with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
