Nigeria Strengthens Ties with Ghana and Brazil as President Tinubu Receives Envoys

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday in Abuja received the Letters of Credence from Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Vice-Admiral Seth Amoama (Rtd), and Brazilian Ambassador to Nigeria, Carlos Jose Areias, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening relations with its West African ally and deepening ties with the South American nation.

President Tinubu commended Ghana’s active participation in ECOWAS and expressed his desire for a stronger partnership between the two nations. He welcomed High Commissioner Amoama, an alumnus of the University of Ibadan and fellow of the National Defence College, Abuja, and wished him a pleasant stay in Nigeria.

High Commissioner Amoama expressed Ghana’s steadfast support to Nigeria’s leadership of ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, assuring that Ghana would continue to support President Tinubu’s leadership in every way possible.

Meanwhile, President Tinubu urged Ambassador Areias to prioritize the establishment of direct flights between Nigeria and Brazil, reiterating his discussions with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of Brazil on the matter. He expressed Nigeria’s commitment to working closely with Brazil to strengthen bilateral relations and advance shared priorities.

Ambassador Areias conveyed President Lula’s invitation to Nigeria to join the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty, a initiative aimed at eliminating extreme poverty by 2030. He also invited President Tinubu to the G20 Leaders’ Summit scheduled for November 18 and 19, 2024, in Rio de Janeiro.

This meeting highlights the strong diplomatic ties between Nigeria, Ghana, and Brazil, with all three countries committed to advancing regional integration, cooperation, and mutual development.
