Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, on Monday paid an official visit to Ankara, where he held high-level talks with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
According to a press release from Alkasim Abdulkadir, SA Media and Communications to the Honorable Minister of Foreign Affairs, the meeting, Tuggar’s first official visit to Türkiye, focused on deepening political, economic, security, and multilateral ties. Fidan commended Nigeria’s leadership in promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in West Africa, while both ministers emphasized expanding trade and investment, particularly in construction, manufacturing, energy, and infrastructure.
They also highlighted opportunities to deepen security and defence industry collaboration, noting the growing strategic nature of Nigeria–Türkiye relations. Both sides expressed confidence in building a stronger, pragmatic partnership anchored in sovereignty and shared interests.
