A Pan-African campaigner has appealed to Ghana’s President to intervene in the preservation of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s former residence in Conakry, Guinea, and the repatriation of his remaining personal belongings.

In an open letter to President Mahama, Ras Mubarak, Campaign Lead of Trans Africa Tourism & Unity Campaign, described the villa, Villa Syli, as a “testament to the unbreakable bond between Ghana and Guinea” and a hub of intellectual and revolutionary activity during Nkrumah’s exile.

Mubarak expressed concern over the villa’s deteriorating condition, citing crumbling facades, overgrown vegetation, and damaged balconies, and urged the Ghanaian government to collaborate with Guinean authorities to restore the site and repatriate Nkrumah’s belongings.

The campaigner proposed transforming Villa Syli into a Pan-African Cultural and Educational Center, featuring a museum, educational facilities, and cultural event spaces, to promote tourism and economic ties between Ghana and Guinea.

The letter was copied to Ghana’s Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Culture & Creative Arts.
