PTAD Disburses ₦5.12 Billion in Pension Arrears to 90,689 Retirees

The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has finalized the disbursement of ₦5,119,328,000 in pension arrears to 90,689 retirees across four pension departments. This payment is part of the Federal Government’s commitment to clearing outstanding pension liabilities and ensuring pensioners receive their due entitlements.

Breakdown of Payment:

– Customs, Immigration, and Prisons Pension Department (CIPPD): 8,626 pensioners received ₦276,032,000 for one month’s arrears

– Police Pension Department (PPD): 9,681 pensioners received ₦619,584,000 for two months’ arrears

– Civil Service Pension Department (CSPD): 12,773 pensioners received ₦408,736,000 for one month’s arrears

– Parastatals Pension Department (PAPD): 59,609 pensioners received ₦3,814,976,000 for two months’ arrears

PTAD’s Commitment:

PTAD remains dedicated to pensioners’ welfare, working to clear outstanding liabilities as funds are disbursed by the Federal Government. This payment demonstrates the administration’s ongoing commitment to ensuring pensioners receive their due entitlements, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Broader Welfare Reforms:

The Federal Government has announced additional initiatives to support pensioners, including:

– Free Healthcare: Providing essential healthcare services for low-income retirees

– Pension Rate Increase: Introducing a new pension rate of ₦32,000 and incremental increases of 10.66% and 12.95% for pensioners from defunct and privatized agencies

– Minimum Pension Guarantee: Shielding pensioners from the harsh effects of inflation

These initiatives aim to improve the quality of life for pensioners while clearing long-standing backlogs.
