The Sierra Leone High Commission in Abuja has issued a clarification regarding allegations made by Isha Francess Dumbuya, a Sierra Leonean national, in a social media video interview.

The High Commission states that it has been effectively supporting Sierra Leoneans in Nigeria and other accredited countries, with High Commissioner Julius F. Sandy scaling up repatriation efforts since assuming office.

This year, 422 Sierra Leoneans have been repatriated, with 74 more to return soon, through partnerships with IOM and UNHCR.

The Commission says it cannot provide assistance without verifying claims, citing instances of misuse of funds by some individuals.

“We urge all Sierra Leoneans in Nigeria to register with us in Abuja or Lagos,” the statement says, reaffirming commitment to serving citizens’ interests.

The clarification comes amid allegations by Dumbuya, whose case is yet to be raised with the High Commission, officials say.
