The Democratic Front (TDF) has welcomed the military collaboration between the US and Nigerian authorities that led to air strikes against terrorists in Sokoto state. In a statement signed by its Chairman, Mallam Danjuma Muhammad, and Secretary, Chief Wale Adedayo, TDF noted that President Bola Tinubu gave his go-ahead before the coordinated American precision strikes were carried out.

“We see the airstrikes as a commendable outcome of the ongoing Nigeria/United States collaboration on security and intelligence sharing in the country,” the statement read. The strikes targeted two major ISIS camps in the Bauni forest axis of Tangaza Local Government Area, Sokoto State, and were launched from maritime platforms in the Gulf of Guinea.

TDF emphasized that the operation was a demonstration of international collaboration, with President Tinubu authorizing the strikes after weeks of joint intelligence and surveillance operations by US and Nigerian forces. Foreign Affairs Minister Yussuf Tuggar confirmed that he was in touch with the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, before the strike, and they agreed to seek President Tinubu’s approval.

The Nigerian government has confirmed that no civilian casualties were recorded, and security agencies have secured the affected areas. The operation is part of ongoing efforts to degrade terrorist and bandit networks operating within Sokoto State and along Nigeria’s northwestern borders.
