Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to embark on a significant diplomatic tour, visiting Peru and Brazil from November 13 to 21, 2024. The Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying made this known to the media.
During the trip, President Xi Jinping will attend the 31st APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Lima, Peru, and the 19th G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
In Lima, Peru, President Xi will join other world leaders at the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, where the focus will be on empowering trade and investment for inclusive and interconnected growth. This meeting is particularly significant, as Peru is one of the first Latin American countries to establish diplomatic ties and a comprehensive strategic partnership with China. The two nations have enjoyed fruitful cooperation in various fields, with Chinese enterprises playing a vital role in Peru’s economic development.
During his State Visit to Peru, Xi will meet with President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra to consolidate political mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation, and promote mutual learning between civilizations. China has expressed its support for Peru’s development path, and the two nations are expected to discuss ways to enhance multilateral coordination.
After the visit to Peru, the Chinese leader will visit Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. While in Brazil President Xi will participate in the 19th G20 Summit, where global economic governance will take center stage. The summit provides an opportunity for major economies to discuss pressing issues, such as climate change, economic inequality, and international cooperation.
President Xi Jinping State Visit to Brazil will also see him meet with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to foster strategic partnerships and deepen bilateral cooperation. China and Brazil have enjoyed robust economic ties, with China being Brazil’s largest trading partner.
