Nigeria, Türkiye Strengthen Diaspora Ties through Landmark MoU

Nigeria and Türkiye have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deepen diaspora engagement and strengthen bilateral cooperation on diaspora affairs. The agreement was signed during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s state visit to Turkey.

NiDCOM Chairman/CEO, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, described the MoU as a milestone under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, providing a framework for cooperation through knowledge sharing and exchange of best practices.

The MoU identifies key areas for joint action, including diaspora participation in policy formulation, promotion of diaspora investment, educational and cultural development, and collaboration in science and technology.

Türkiye’s Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) expressed gratitude for the partnership, reaffirming commitment to closer collaboration on diaspora matters.

The MoU marks a new chapter in Nigeria-Türkiye relations, harnessing diaspora potential for mutual benefit.
